Many buyers will not type a card number into a page they have never seen, but they will sign in to PayPal. Offering it beside a card gateway lifts conversion for exactly those members.
Renewals on PayPal's side
A recurring plan becomes a PayPal billing agreement. PayPal charges each cycle and tells Subscriby by webhook; a member who cancels inside PayPal is marked cancelled here as soon as PayPal's webhook arrives.

You never create a PayPal webhook by hand. When you save the method, Subscriby lists your PayPal webhooks, reuses one that already points here or creates one, and stores its id so every delivery can be checked against PayPal's signature.

Sign in to the PayPal Developer Dashboard with a PayPal Business account and create an app; a personal account cannot use the subscription APIs.

Copy the Client ID and Secret for the environment you want, Sandbox for testing or Live for real payments.

In your dashboard open Payment Methods, choose Set Up a Payment Method, pick PayPal and select the matching mode.

Paste the Client ID and Secret, switch the method on and save; Subscriby registers the PayPal webhook for you and emails the project owner if PayPal refuses.

Choose Sync Subscription Plans from the method's menu so your recurring plans exist in PayPal and renewals can run.
